Citation M2, Citation CJ2+, Citation CJ3, Citation CJ4
The Citation M2 market continues to mature into an active market, as the fleet has reached nearly 200 units. Q2 averaged eight units on the market, which is one more than Q2, 2017. There were four sales in Q2, which represents 2% of the fleet, and is one fewer than Q2 2017. Pricing is still trending downward, perhaps because it is still a young fleet. This would be a good time to purchase an M2 and take advantage of still soft pricing.
The number of Citation CJ2+ available for sale has declined when compared to Q2, 2017. In Q2 there were 13 aircraft available, which was four fewer than in 2017. There were five sales in Q2 2018, which represents 2% of the fleet. Pricing remains steady for the past two quarters. This is an excellent market for both the buyer and seller, as pricing has stabilized, and there are an ample supply on the market, with decent sales activity.
The CJ3 market continues to remain active. There were an average of 19 units available for sale this past quarter, which is 11 fewer than Q2, 2017. Eight units traded last quarter, four fewer than Q2, 2017, which represents 2% of the fleet. Pricing declined slightly last quarter, with signs of upcoming stability. This is an excellent time to sell a CJ3, as there is good activity with shrinking inventories.
The Citation CJ4 market has undergone a significant transformation during the past four quarters. In Q2, 2017 there were 19 aircraft available for sale. In Q2 2018, that number has dropped 63% to only seven units for sale. The sales activity has suffered as a result of low inventory levels, with only one retail sale in Q2, 2018, compared to four units a year ago. Pricing still is trending downward slightly. This would be a good market to sell a CJ4, as inventory levels are extremely low.
