Current State of the Citation CJ1+ Market

The CJ1+ market is fairly specialized. With just over 100 units produced in its seven year production run, there is never a lot of activity in this market. Currently there are nine units listed for sale, which represents just under 9% of the fleet. There have been five sales so far this year, which equals the same period last year. The average exposure time for those units sold in 2017 is 188 days. Expect to pay between two and three million dollars for an average aircraft. With the used M2 market maturing, the upper end of the CJ1+ market will be restrained to well below $3,000,000.

Current State of the Citation M2 Market

In the four and a half years that the M2 has been in production, there have already been over a third more units produced than that of its predecessor, the CJ1+, which had a seven year production run. We are now seeing the M2 market starting to take hold as owners begin to upgrade to newer models. There have been ten sales this year compared to eight for the same period last year.

Currently seven units are listed for sale, representing just over 5% of the fleet. Pricing for the M2 is fairly stable with the biggest depreciation accounted by the very late models. Expect to pay low to mid $3,000,000 for an average M2. Exposure time for those aircraft trading in 2017 is just 123 days.

The Encore market is pretty consistent with usually between 10 and 13 units on the market at any given time. Currently there are 14 Encores listed for sale, representing just under 9% of the Encore fleet. So far in 2017, there have been seven transactions, an increase of two units over the same period last year. Pricing for the Encore remains soft with most units trading well below $3,000,000. The average exposure time for the aircraft sold in 2017 is 220 days.

Current State of the Citation Encore+ Market

The Encore+ has always been a niche market. With only 65 units manufactured, there is never more than a handful for sale at any given time. There have been three sales so far in 2017. At this time, there are only two currently listed for sale, which represents only 3% of the fleet. The three that sold this year had an average exposure time of 220 days. Pricing of this model continues to be soft, despite the lack of availability on the used market. Expect to pay low to mid $3,000,000 for an average aircraft.
