Challenger 300, Challenger 604, Challenger 605
After a red-hot second quarter, transactions have cooled off as we head into the fourth quarter of 2018. The Challenger 300 market is still strong, with historically low inventory, and pricing as good as we’ve seen in many quarters. Q2 2018 produced 21 transactions, which is astonishing considering the average number of inventory was only 20 aircraft for sale. It would be difficult to keep up that pace, which Q3 proved with only seven Challenger 300 transactions. Inventory increased for the first time in two years to 22 aircraft for sale, which is still low compared to the 27 that were for sale a year ago. Currently, less than 5% of the active fleet is for sale. The Challenger 300 market is still a great environment for sellers, but it is showing some positive signs for buyers as we head into the fourth quarter.
Challenger 604 transactions are up and inventory is down as we head into the fourth quarter of 2018. There are currently only 18 aircraft for sale, the lowest inventory we’ve seen in many years. Transactions increased slightly from last quarter’s 10 transactions, with Q3 producing 11 sales. There have been 38 Challenger 604’s sold in 2018, up from 32 last year by this time. This is impressive considering the average inventory during 2017 was 36 aircraft, and 2018’s has been 24 aircraft for sale. Pricing remains strong and has been flat for two consecutive quarters now. If you are considering selling your Challenger 604, take advantage of this low competition and high demand environment.
Just like the Challenger 604, Challenger 605 inventory is the lowest we’ve seen in many years. Currently, there are just nine aircraft for sale, representing just over 3% of the active fleet. Looking back a year ago, there were twice as many Challenger 605’s on the market. Along with low inventory, demand has held strong at nine transactions during each of the past two quarters. Looking back to Q3 2017, there were just five transactions. 2018 has produced 25 transactions so far, up from 21 transactions in 2017 YTD. With inventory low and demand still strong, now is a great time to be selling your Challenger 605.
