Challenger 300, Challenger 604, Challenger 605
Is it possible for the number of transactions in a quarter to exceed the number available for sale? In this current Challenger 300 market, it certainly is. Q2 of 2018 brought 21 transactions with just 20 aircraft listed for sale. Looking back a year ago, Q2 of 2017 produced only 11 sales, with 31 Challenger 300’s on the market. Even when compared to the 1st quarter of 2018, inventory has dropped 20% with transactions jumping from 14 to 21 aircraft sold in Q2 2018. Pricing is strong and has been for the past few quarters. With declining inventory and increasing demand, this makes for a great environment to sell a Challenger 300.
Transactions slowed in the second quarter of 2018 after a busy first quarter. There were 17 Challenger 604 transactions Q1 of 2018 and just nine during Q2 of 2018. As a result of the large number of Q1 2018 transactions, inventory has dropped considerably to just 23 aircraft for sale. When compared to a year ago, there are just over half the Challenger 604’s available. Pricing dipped this past quarter, but at a rate, less than the quarter prior. With inventory shrinking and buyers looking for more options, this provides an excellent opportunity for someone considering selling their Challenger 604.
Pricing is holding steady in the Challenger 605 market, with inventory steadily decreasing coming into this third quarter of 2018. Currently, there are 13 Challenger 605’s for sale, which represents just 4.7% of the active fleet. This is down compared to the 18 that were for sale a year ago. Transactions, as a percent of inventory, are steadily increasing as demand remains strong for this aircraft. There were nine sales in Q2 of 2018, up from seven during Q1 of 2018. When compared to a year ago, transactions were nearly identical but with more aircraft to choose from. As with the other Challenger series aircraft this quarter, now is a great time to consider selling your Challenger 605.
